     Adam Silvera is a New York native and child to a Puerto Rican mother. His stories highlight the challenges and nuances he faced throughout his life, often tying in his heritage. 

     Silvera consistently raises the voices of the queer community through honest characterization of his experiences as a member himself. 

     Through intriguing story-telling, relatable characters, and an honesty difficult to find in modern writing, Silvera balances an elevated writing style with the complexity of contemporary humor and standards.
